The win of CZ LOKO ended a global tender issued by the Italian company Serfer Servizi Ferroviari (SERFER) of the TRENITALIA group for the supply of five shunting locomotives. The tender took place from December last year to March this year and, from the group of competitors, it was the EffiShunter 1000 locomotive of CZ LOKO that was selected.
“Establishing ourselves on an advanced and demanding market such as the Italian one is a great result of the work of businessmen, designers and labourers. All these constructed a top-class vehicle that we first introduced in September last year at a railway fair in Berlin, where it aroused great interest. I am very glad that the interest continues also in this commercial phase,” says Josef Bárta, Chairman of the Board of CZ LOKO. He, together with Francesco Cioffi, CEO of SERFER, confirmed the win of the tender by signing a contract in Genoa in April.
CZ LOKO thus continued its significant business success in Italy in recent years, supplying the country with over 50 vehicles. After the première in Berlin, the EffiShunter 1000 locomotive will thus be delivered to its first customer already this year. The last locomotive of this contract will be delivered in the first quarter of 2018. The vehicles will be used at large logistical hubs such as Verona or the cargo port in Genoa. The first period will purely consist of shunting services, later the locomotives will also be used for line service. Now the two sides are still discussing the subsequent complex vehicle service, which would be taken care of by the subsidiary company CZLOKO Italia.
“The key to winning the tender was the technical sophistication of the vehicles, their reliability, low operating and maintenance costs, together with a relatively fast delivery date. An important role is also played by the availability of service and spare parts from our Italian subsidiary. This success confirms that EffiShunter 1000 is a product with great future in the 21st century Europe” explains Jan Kutálek, Sales Manager of CZLOKO and member of the Board of CZLOKO Italia.
The four-axle interoperable diesel-electric EffiShunter 1000, developed and produced by CZ LOKO, has an output of 895 kW, maximum speed of 100 km/h and pulling force of 267 kN. The version for Italy will be equipped with the BL3 security system. It is designed especially for all kinds of shunting and heavy duty on industrial sidings. It is equipped with AC/AC alternating power transfer from the combustion engine to the powered wheelset and its parameters comply with the latest TSI standards for operation across Europe. The locomotive is fitted with a digital control system with online diagnostics and GPS monitoring. Additional sophisticated technical equipment, such as automatic speed control, radio remote control or automatic coupling can be installed on request.
