The Subterra construction company has become the first Czech private operator of the CZ LOKO EffiShunter 1000 locomotive (with the designation 744.150) equipped with the ETCS train control system. Its representatives took it over on 29 April in Jihlava.
“We are going to increase the work efficiency of the entire railway construction division and qualitatively move it one step higher,” said Jaroslav Čižinský, Production and Technical Director of Subterra, belonging to the Metrostav Group. He was accompanied by Miroslav Kadlec, Director of Division 3, Radim Wrana, Head of Railway Mechanization Operations and Tomáš Turek, Head of the Machine Rental Centre.
The company will use the modern vehicle mainly for transporting construction materials and track mechanization on construction sites in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Increased transport independence and flexibility will allow the company to better plan and coordinate activities previously provided by suppliers or leases. The contract with CZ LOKO also includes an option for two more locomotives.
As Subterra’s representatives said, when deciding, the logical choice was a domestic and established manufacturer, which also guarantees trouble-free servicing and maintenance.
“A comprehensive service portfolio is part of our long-term business strategy. And we are very pleased that our customers are responding to this form of cooperation. By leaving the care and maintenance of the locomotive to us, they can fully concentrate on their core business,” said Michal Schaffer, Head of the Marketing Dept. at CZ LOKO.
